Improving the Efficiency of Student Services
Dissemination and Sustainability
DISSEMINATION
Local dissemination is one of the responsibilities of the local Centre Managers. With the students, they will form a social network that will advertise the activities globally. Also full use will be made of information brochures, flyers, booklets and the web including a web site, a wiki and facebook technology. All information and documents produced will be entered on a dedicated server at KNU and be available to the others with a password. Dissemination seminars will be given by the EU partners for internal dissemination within institutions. Inter project Coaching will be utilised to discover Best Practice in other regions.
A series of local meetings will be organised with Enterprises engaging in placements helped by DCCI. Also local secondary schools/colleges will be visited to publicise the new recruitment process. At a national level, a project newsletter will be designed and published annually thereafter. At the global level, an international conference will be hosted by the Ministry for all universities in Ukraine. Technological vehicles such as podcasting and mobile phone Applications will be used in all activities- recruitment, placement, personal skills, alumni societies and general dissemination.
SUSTAINABILITY
Long Term Perspectives:
Long term perspectives for this project are very promising. A long term strategy to improve the student experience will be elaborated, developed and submitted for implementation at the national level in Ukraine. This will be aided by DCCI and form part of the strategic framework for Ukraine. Tangible outputs will include:
-
The network of centres at each of the partner universities which will act as a focus point for all future sustainable activities.
-
New management structures sustained through the activities at the Teaching Centres.
Project Funding after EU support:
It is intended that each Student Support Services Centre can generates enough income to guarantee the existence of the centre and, by doing so, also sustain the other outputs. A scheme for raising money from the new placement services and Alumni Societies will be pursued and firm guarantees from the institutions of financial support will be sought.
Analysis of Opportunities and threats related to sustainability:
There are six major opportunities for consortium universities.
Academic and Institutional:
-
To improve the recruitment process producing students who are more satisfied with their courses;
-
An updated placement service giving students more experience in work;
-
To give better personal skills and competences to students;
-
To offer student activities that give an opportunity to exhibit these skills in practice.
National:
-
To influence the strategy on modernisation of student services at a national/regional level in Ukraine.
Social Economic:
-
To help the socio-economic development of Ukraine through improved graduate employability rates.
Threats:
Each opportunity carries a threat. It will take a long time to change mental outlooks formed over many years of soviet rule but the evidence is that there is sufficient motivation to ensure success.
A global economic slump will affect the success of these activities. Our view is the opposite - such a slump will increase the chance of success as the only way to survive will be to be become more efficient, have better trained staff and produce better graduates,
Provisions made to enhance potential sustainability:
An in-depth analysis has been undertaken and this project is well suited to the needs of the regions. The commitment of the partner universities is essential. Target groups have been well identified and thoroughly understand the project . A risk analysis has been carried out and assessed as low risk.
The centre network will provide a multiplier effect for students, courses and cooperative actions from institutional to national level and will continue the dissemination after the end of the project.
